The Melbourne International Music Competition provides a unique opportunity for young aspiring musicians from Melbourne and abroad to showcase their musical talents, and take part in its exciting programs offered by some of Australia's most renowned and internationally acclaimed musicians.

As a multicultural event, the Melbourne International Music Competition aims to connect young musicians from all over the world, facilitating lasting friendships and collaborations for next generations of musicians through musical activities, performances and events.

3. Regulations

General

  • The Grand Final consists of a single round.
  • Formal performance attire is mandatory.
  • Staff instructions must be followed to maintain order.

Performance

  • Repertoire must be performed from memory.
  • Strict adherence to time limits (no penalty if stopped).
  • Performers must be tuned and ready at designated time.

Jury & Evaluation

  • Judged by distinguished international musicians.
  • Criteria: Proficiency, musicality, intonation, stage presence.
  • Jury may interrupt performance; this does not affect scoring.
  • All decisions are final.

Safety

Participants are responsible for the safety and tuning of their own instruments.
